Job description for a Technology Coordinator for the School
Leadership
The technology coordinator takes a leadership position in all the technology / computer-related issues of the school. In executing his duties, he will liaise with the management and other staff of the school in implementing or working towards the implementation of the national ICT goals for secondary educational institutions.
He will be the chief overseer of all ICT and ICT-related equipment of the school, and have to ensure their day-to-day running and maintenance, teaming up with the schools computer maintenance section.
The coordinator will liaise with the management of the school in purchase or upgrade of various software and hardware necessary for the implementation of set ICT goals.
The coordinator will be the main mouthpiece of the school for ICT-related issues, and will be the bridge between the school and potential ICT equipment vendors.
Training of staff
The coordinator will be responsible for the training of staff in the used of new technologies implemented in the school, or upgraded existing systems. Reports
The coordinator will report to management on the state of ICT in the school at time intervals decided on by the school’s management board. Educational Qualification
This person must hold a Master's degree in educational technology or, an MBA in Management Information Systems from an accredited institution.
In addition to the above qualifications, should have at least three years of teaching experience.
Must have some experience in the organisation of training workshops.
A certification in computer hardware training, networking, and database administration will be an added advantage, but it is not a compulsory requirement.
